A free tool for seeing every groundwater sustainability agency in California: the basin and subbasin it manages, the sustainability plan on file and the state's assessment of it, the subbasin's water budget year by year, and the water districts, counties, and crops inside its boundary.
The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act put more than 350 local agencies in charge of the state's groundwater basins. Each writes a plan, reports every year on how much water its basin used and where it came from, and answers to the Department of Water Resources and, where plans fall short, the State Water Resources Control Board.
Pick an agency to see where it stands. Every district links to the District Explorer, every county to the County Explorer, and every crop to the Crop Explorer.
