Place lookup

Which project serves a place, which contractor classes are present in its county, where it sits relative to the Delta, and what those classes were told to expect each year. A county-level screen; the district itself is the authority on its contract.

The county comes first; the town or address is resolved to its county on this site (no third-party lookup from your browser).

Sources. County to contractor-class map: hand-checked on 2026-09-18 from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s Central Valley Project contractor lists (Sacramento River Settlement Contractors, Exchange Contractors, water service contractors north and south of the Delta, Friant Division, refuge water supply) and the Department of Water Resources’ list of State Water Project Table A contractors, held on this site as water.water_supply_county_lookup. Place resolution: this site’s gazetteer and county cache (the same path the water footprint and recharge tools use). Allocations: Reclamation news releases (CVP, 2011 onward) and DWR Historical Table A Allocations (SWP, 1996 onward), from metric.delta_diversion_vs_allocation_wy. Sacramento Valley water-year type: CDEC water-year classification, served by the Water Supply Live set on this site.

Method. A county is marked with a class when at least one contractor of that class holds service area in it. A county can hold several classes and a class spans many counties, so the map says what is present, not how much each class delivers there, and a place inside a county may lie outside every contractor’s boundary. Counties with no project contractor are said to be outside CVP and SWP service even where local districts hold their own rights. Eastside Division (New Melones) contractors are named in the notes but their allocation class is not in this toolkit’s table. Full rules: definitions .
